Emerging from the early New Wave music scene in Boston in the late 1970s, the Cars– lead singer / rhythm guitarist Ric Ocasek, lead singer / bassist Benjamin Orr, guitarist Elliot Easton, keyboardist Greg Hawkes and drummer David Robinson – were a band whose combo of cool detachment and candied hooks made them smash hitmakers around the world.
